What is PubMed Central? PubMed Central (PMC) is the U.S. National Library of Medicine's digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature A logical extension of NLM’s general mandate Free and unrestricted access Integrate the literature with other valuable information resources in the NCBI database family (e.g., PubMed, Nucleotide, Protein) Digitize journal back issues to create a full electronic record of a journal Launched in February 2000
