Revelation 2:18-29 "And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet are like burnished bronze, says this: 19 ‘ I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and perseverance, and that your deeds of late are greater than at first 20 'But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. Thyatira

4. 21 ‘ I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her immorality. 22 'Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. 23 'And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. 24 'But I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them--I place no other burden on you.

5. 25 'Nevertheless what you have, hold fast until I come. 26 ‘He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, TO HIM I WILL GIVE AUTHORITY OVER THE NATIONS; 27 AND HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON, AS THE VESSELS OF THE POTTER ARE BROKEN TO PIECES, as I also have received authority from My Father; 28 and I will give him the morning star. 29 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' 6. Jesus -- “ The Son of God ” Thyatira “eyes like a flame of fire”, and feet like “burnished bronze” (i.e. high polished) “eyes like a flame of fire” speaks of Him discerning evil…..because He cannot and will not tolerate it. Feet like “burnish bronze” speaks of “judgment” = an image of Jesus stamping out evil with judgment. (similar to Isaiah 63:1-6)

7. “I know your deeds……. Verse 19 “I know your deeds……. Thyatira Thyatira is the only one of the 7 churches that is commended for making progress. Their deeds were combined with: love and faith and service and perseverance.

8. “ Houston - Verse 20 “ Houston --- we have a problem” Thyatira “….you tolerate the woman Jezebel,” (Insight) God will hold us responsible and bring judgment if we tolerate a Jezebel Spirit in the church.

Ahab & Jezebel (the Jezebel Spirit) Thyatira Her father was king Sidon …….She corrupted Ahab even more than he already was. “Surely there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do evil in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife incited him.” I Kings 21:25 After Ahab was killed in battle, Jezebel ruled through her son for ten years. Her death was a prophetic fulfillment. II Kings 9:30-35

10. “If I die….. I’ll me die like a Queen!” Thyatira 1. Paints her eyes 2. Adorned her head 3.Sits in the window and sarcastically mocks Jehu. Called him Zimri, who had wiped out the house of Baasha and then was killed himself after ruling only 7 days. (I Kings 16:11,18)

11. The Jezebel of Revelation Thyatira She is a self proclaimed prophetess ----God didn’t call her;…. she called herself! Her teaching was totally false. She knowingly leads people astray ---into immorality and idolatry. She was actually a member of the church…….and nobody was confronting her.

12. God’s judgment would be swiftly Thyatira 1.She would cast on “a bed of sickness” (perhaps as a result of her immorality). (v.22) 2.Those who “commit adultery with her” will experience “great tribulation” unless they repent. (v.22) 3.Her children (maybe her kids or her followers) will be killed by pestilence. (v.23) 4.And, “all the churches” will know that I am He who …….

13. Blessed are they who “ overcome ” Thyatira “I will give authority over nations” (v.26) Psalm 2:8&9 “…as I also have received authority from My Father;” (v.27) Since Psalm 2 has been fulfilled in Christ through His death, burial and resurrection….. Jesus now has “All authority in Heaven and on earth” Matthew 28

14. I will give him the morning star. Thyatira I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." Revelation 22:16 1.He is the precursor of a “new day” 2.Greater than the privilege of ruling & reigning with Christ will be the joy of “unhindered fellowship” with Him. 3. It will be a total restoration of the fellowship Adam & Eve once enjoyed in the Garden of Eden.
