Letter to Thyatira NIV Revelation 2:18 "To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.

Letter to Thyatira 19 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. AN INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH LOVE AN INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH LOVE

Letter to Thyatira 20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. 21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.

Letter to Thyatira 22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. 23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

Letter to Thyatira 24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you): 25 Only hold on to what you have until I come.

Letter to Thyatira 26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations-- 27 'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery'--just as I have received authority from my Father. 28 I will also give him the morning star. 29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Letter to Thyatira The wealthy and generous Lydia came from Thyatira. While traveling and selling, this business lady came to the faith and was baptized in Phillipi. Lydia was a generous supporter of Paul and the early church. She might have brought Christianity back with her to Thyatira. The wealthy and generous Lydia came from Thyatira. 17 Letter to Thyatira Here a prominent woman (Jezebel) must have been prophesying that Christians could worship at the pagan altars without ill-effect to their faith. The sexual immorality associated with the pagan worship and lifestyle is clearly mentioned. 19 Letter to Thyatira We see the Lord is patient and forgiving, even for the worst of sins. In this instance, it is false teaching leading to sexual immorality. Clearly, the congregation is to rebuke her so that she can repent (v.20- 22). Something similar was done in Corinth to a man sleeping with his step-mother. Public rebuke had its intended result to lead the man to his repentance (1 Cor. 5:1-13; 2 Cor. 2:5-11; Gal. 6:1-2). We see the Lord is patient and forgiving, even for the worst of sins. 21 Letter to Thyatira Thyatira also made pottery. Like the discarded broken pots that abounded around them, Christ would discard the kingdoms of the earth that shatter at His coming (2:27). 22 Letter to Thyatira Thyatira sought business with many nations. For being faithful, the nations were theirs to serve with the Gospel. With their many open lines of trade, the Gospel could have easily spread through Christians associated with Thyatira. Thyatira sought business with many nations.
