3 Quantity, timescale and selection Decision made to send stock to CASS in early 2004 1000 metres (c. 35,000 volumes) in 2 batches of 500 metres each June 2004 and October 2004

4 Selection Question: "how do you select material in terms of the collection and usage but also select in terms of ease of administration and cataloguing?" Periodicals vs. monographs? Scientific periodicals larger runs of periodicals to reduce the number of catalogue records.

6 Planning for OPAC  Show work was in progress  Ensure clarity for users re. the locations of the CASS stock  Create a link to the CASS website and catalogue from each of our catalogue records  Ensure clarity to show periodicals holdings, especially for split runs  Retain the integrity of our own catalogue

7 Solutions for OPAC MARC 856 tags CASS location code in holdings Retain local classmarks Delete local item records

14 Sending MARC records to the NLS  Files ready on Innovative system  Create files of MARC export records  Send them as email attachments to NLS  Timed to coincide with the physical move of stock  Non standard holdings data
