3. Christopher Columbus  On August 3, 1492 Columbus set sail from Palos in Spain with three ships, the Nina, Piñata and the Santa Maria.

4. Christopher Columbus  After sailing across the Atlantic Ocean for 10 weeks, he landed on a small island in the Bahamas which Columbus named San Salvador.
