4 Facts & Claims Facts A known commodity: The Barrett M107 is combat proven and User respected—the XM109 possesses much of the same architecture as the M107 Ammunition Availability: The 25mm XM109 will use the self-same 25mm armor-piercing ammunition as the Objective Crew-Served Weapon (XM307) Claims The 25mm XM109 offers significantly greater lethality than the .50 caliber XM107 against C4I SAR targets Near term: Penetration potential from optimizing warhead promises over 1 ½ -inches of RHA at 1200 meters and beyond Long Term: Optimized AP ammunition offers 2 + inches of HHA This weapon is based on the M107, and will use the XM1049 HEDP ammunition currently under development at GD-OTS. Interim ammunition provides penetration in excess of 1.5 inches of RHA at 1200 meters. While the XM1049 ammunition will provide over 2 inches of penetration of HHA at ranges up to 2000 meters. Thermobaric ammunition solutions are also being explored.

6 SYSTEM CHARACTERISTICS
WEAPON SYSTEM HAS RAPID CONVERSION CAPABILITY FROM M107 TO XM109 XM109 & M107 HAVE 70% COMMONALITY MAJORITY OF REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE CURRENTLY IN SUPPLY SYSTEM WEAPON SYSTEM IS 10 INCHES SHORTER THAN M107 CAPABLE OF DEFEATING MOST LIGHT ARMOR AND MATERIEL TARGETS OUT TO 2000 METERS Conversion from M107 to Xm109 may be accomplished in under 2 minutes in a field environment. Logistical support is readily available currently for most of the parts.

9 Battelle Weaponeering Study
Summarized Results: Probability of Target Defeat Big Bird Radar At 800 meters the XM109 required half as many rounds as the XM107. BMP-3 At 800 meters the XM107 required 2 times more rounds than the XM109. The results compiled from our Batelle weaponeering study indicate that both the Big Bird Radar and BMP-3 could be defeated with half as many rounds when compared to .50 caliber systems.

11 Tech Demo – 19 June 2003 Set-up: Location:
High Speed and normal speed video record of pre-demo and demo at both target (perpendicular) and weapon (side view) locations 6 foot x 6 foot x 1 inch thick armor target at 207m (RHA) All shots fired by remote operation Location: Niceville, Florida Technical demonstration was conducted on 1 inch RHA at 207 meters.

12 Training-Practice and Armor-Piercing Ammunition,
and the Target Effects 19 June 2003 – Niceville, FLA. As may be seen from the video the round fully penetrates the plate with massive terminal ballistic effects.
