They were cousins – Did John want to baptize Jesus? No, he wanted Jesus to baptize him – What was the purpose of John’s baptism? A demonstration of repentance of sins – Did Jesus have to be baptized? Why? To obey the command of God’s prophet – What happened after Jesus came up out of the water? Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove and God spoke from heaven – Why did this happen? To confirm to John that Jesus was God’s Son (John 1:31-34)
