STOP…LOOK…LISTEN Matt. 10:1-15; Luke 6:12-16 – What is authority? (consider John 19:10; Lk. 5:24; Lk. 7:8) – What sort of authority did Jesus give His apostles? – What were the apostles to do if a town wouldn’t listen to their teaching? – Read 1 Cor. 14:37. Whose commandments did Paul preach? – If I quote from the U.S. Constitution, I am making up new laws? – If the apostles stated the commands Jesus gave them, were they making up new laws? – Read Gal. 1:11-12. What was the source of Paul’s doctrines? – Read 2 Cor. 10:8 and 13:10. What was the source of the apostles’ authority, and for what did they use it?
