Applications Through a PrivacyLens

CONFLUENCE Through a PrivacyLens:

Unauthenticated view of the Confluence home page Note that only a few child pages show as visible on the left of the screen, and the menu bar at the top only shows Tools.

Unauthenticated view of the Confluence home page At the bottom of the same home page, you’ll note the links are greyed out; unauthenticated users cannot go to those pages.

Opaque identifier and the blog With just the opaque identifier released, blog entries are readable but not writable. The edit option only becomes available when additional attributes, specifically the opaque identifier and the group membership information is released.

Releasing an opaque identifier only

Opaque identifier available Now several more child pages are available in the left side-bar, and the user has a new ability to watch the page for changes (upper right corner).

Opaque identifier available At the bottom of the home page, certain links relating to those now- visible child pages have become active. Other links remain unavailable pending the release of additional attributes.

Anonymous comments With only the opaque identifier released, individuals may post comments while preserving their anonymity within the community.

Releasing an opaque identifier and some personal information

Releasing an opaque identifier and personal information The home page does change; personlization adds no value here.

Public comments and personal information The biggest change with the release of personal attributes is where Confluence will now record a person’s name, such as in a page comment.

Releasing an opaque identifier, personal information, and specific permissions

Releasing three sets of attributes Pages visible have gone up from two child pages as an unauthenticated user, six child pages with an opaque attribute, and now eight child pages with the release of an additional attributes containing specific permissions.

A restricted site This is one of the pages released when specific permission attributes are released.

Releasing an opaque identifier, personal information, specific permissions, and group membership

Group information released Changes at this point are more subtle, but new functionality becomes available as more attributes are released. In this case, with the group attribute information released along with the opaque identifier and other attributes, the user can now create a blog entry.

Full attribute release Opaque identifier, personal information, restricted access, group information, and specific community tokens

Full attribute release and the home page With full attribute release, a final page on the blog becomes available.

Full attribute release The weather spotter page is now open for viewing and editing.

The weather spotter page – all attributes released
