2 History Phillip Morris introduced Marlboro cigarettes 1924 as a woman's cigarette mainly because it had a red filter so the woman's lipstick doesn't show. The slogan that attracted attention from women was "Beauty Tips to Keep the Paper from Your Lips"

3 Market Marlboro first came out when smoking was popular and it was a common thing to do so there was a lot of money to be maid because there was allot of people that smoked and it was a more common thing to do. Where as now it’s a less common to find people smoking because of the dangers that have been studied and recognised and since the price of every thing has gone up people don’t want to spend there money on smokes were back in the day you could buy a pack of Marlboro cheaper then you can buy an energy drink these days

4 Audience The original audience was aimed towards women because having a smoke with a filter was conceded a woman's smoke until they realised smoking was dangerous and can harm your body. So they changed audience to target males. Because more males smoked then females and they figured out smoking with a filter was safer then smoking without a filter

5 Advertising Then It was really easy to market back then because they could basically put there add on anything where everyone can see Marlboro man was the main add campaign to target men because Marlboro was a woman smoke so they made Marlboro man and in the adds he was always doing something manly while having a smoke of a Marlboro that’s how they attracted men and they used the slogan “Come to where the flavour is”

6 Advertising Then Marlboro sponsored allot of this before the plain packaging rule came in they sponsored Formula one and other car racing events and drivers, they sold poster aired TV adds about Marlboro considering this was back in the day when they didn’t know smoking caused lung cancer and every one smokes it was a normal thing to do and was in style at this time

7 Advertising now Advertising now is much harder then back in the day because there are taxes and new rules about smoking that have popped up since smoking first came out they don’t make anymore smoking adds for TV they don’t sponsor thing like they used to. there is the plain packaging rule so you cant tell what brand it is if you do see an add and the photo and warning is on the whole package instead of the back like before

8 Plain Packaging Plain packaging came in December 2012 even before then the government and other people have been trying to phase out smoking adds and sponsorships. So there has been a huge decrease in people buying smokes since then because there are no more adds and people don’t talk about it because it is shunned upon buy the public. When the plain packaging came in it was a rule that every brand had to remove there logos and colours from the smokes all they coud show was there brand name, size of the packet and the warning sticker that covers up most of the cigarettes unlike before where you could hardly notice it
