6 Step 21: Target specific employers for job development
Using the Specific Employers list from the customized planning meeting as a guide, target a number (2 – 4 each week) of employers to be contacted. Develop a monthly plan for the number of employers to be contacted for each participant represented. Marc Gold & Associates© 6

7 Step 22: Research each employer to be contacted
For each employer to be contacted, perform approximately 1 hour of research using the job development handout that addresses the content areas to be a covered. Look for connections and possible referrals for each targeted employer prior to making initial contact. Marc Gold & Associates© 7

8 Step 23: Decide on contact strategy and make contacts
Plan the most appropriate/realistic strategy to be used to make the initial employer contact for purposes of making a presentation on CE – using a third party, informal contact, drop-in visit (if appropriate) or telephone. Marc Gold & Associates© 8

9 Step 24: Present CE, perform employer needs analysis
For each successful initial contact, follow up with a presentation the concept of CE and introduce the job seeker using the visual resume. Seek to close the initial presentation with an offer to provide an employer needs analysis that will be used to negotiate the customized job description. Marc Gold & Associates© 9

14 Step 25: Negotiate customized job description
Continue employer negotiations in an effort to tailor a job description that meets the needs of both the employer and the job seeker. Write a synopsis of the details of the negotiations and submit to both the employer and the job seeker. Marc Gold & Associates© 14
