2 TOM TORLAKSON State Superintendent of Public Instruction Legislation -2014 Primary Mathematics Instructional Materials Adoption -AB 1246 authorizes SBE to adopt instructional materials for Grades K-8 aligned to CCSSM by March 30, 2014 -SB 1200: Modifications to the California Additions to the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and Model Courses for Higher Mathematics Adopted

3 TOM TORLAKSON State Superintendent of Public Instruction Mathematics: CA Modifications to CCSS -Adopted by State Board on January 16, 2013 -Two public hearings on January 3 & 4, 2013. One at CDE and another at Orange County Office of Education -Education Code (EC) 60605.11 (b) (3, 4, 5) -one set of standards per grade level -Algebra I based upon CCSS for mathematics -Redundant standards are eliminated
