Have you ever heard a wolf howl and wondered about the creature that made that haunting noise? Well, my report will help you learn more about these magnificent creatures.

Habitat My first category is all about habitat. One lone wolf\pack will need.1 of a square mile. To mark this territory, a wolf\pack howls. These territories are in Wisconsin and the Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Trespassing is taken as a serious offense. Wolves that trespass are killed by the residents of the territory. Now read on! For you shall learn about this amazing animals awesome adaptations.

Adaptations The wolf has very strong, keen senses of sight and smell and also hearing. An example of its hearing is that it can hear another wolf howl from up to 5 miles away. An example of its sight is that it can see a dear a mile away. A wolf is very durable. It has thick pads on its feet so that it can run quickly over rough terrain. To eat it has jaws that can crush bones. This helps them get the last particles of meat. It usually lives in packs so that the pack can hunt together and successfully. That is all for adaptations.

Diet My last category is about food. Wolves need 5 pounds of food every day. So that they have an easy kill, wolves choose the weakest animals to attack. Some scientists think that wolves can smell sickness in other animals. Lone wolves eat small animals in their territory. Packs eat moose, elk, and deer and caribou. They need to hunt in packs because a moose’s hoof can crush a wolf's skull. On this diet wolves weigh 50-100 lbs. That is the end of facts.

Now that you know all about Gray Wolves you can know all about the creature that makes that lonely howl at night. One more, overall fact: Wolves are misunderstood! They are misunderstood because of the Grimm fairy tale, The Big, Bad Wolf. I know wolves mean reputation, but wolves aren’t all that bad. Scientific studies have shown that no wolf right in it’s mind (non-rabid) would attack a human. I hope you like my presentation. Now I must be off. (to research another animal!)
