3 Paleo-Indian Era  10,000 B.C. to 5,500 B.C.  People were nomads who hunted giant animals, such as mammoth, using flint spears

4 Did You Know?  Archaeologists found the bones of a Paleo-Indian woman near Midland, Texas. They named her Midland Minnie.

5 Archaic Era  5,500 B.C. to 700 A.D.  Since all giant animals became extinct, people began hunting small animals, such as buffalo & deer

6 Archaic Era  Men hunted with better weapons like the Atlatl  Women gathered food like seeds & berries

7 Did You Know?  Archaeologists found the remains of a man from the Archaic Era in 1829. They found it in Abilene, Texas and named it ABILENE MAN.

8 Late Prehistoric Era  700 A.D. to 1500 A.D.  People began using the land for farming corn  The bow & arrow was invented
