2 Starfish Early Alert and Connect TAMUCC’s New Early Warning System Faculty can use Starfish to easily raise Academic concerns or “Flags” for undergraduate students and connect them to campus resources. 3 Academic Early Alert Progress Report for pre-1000, 1000, and 2000 level courses will be available during Spring 2014. Faculty can raise flags or kudos outside of Early Alert Progress Reports for any undergraduate students at any time. Slide 2

5 Progress Report Assignments Progress Report Assignments will be listed at the top of the Starfish Homepage, and will display course enrollment and Starfish progress items: Flags or Kudos Select any progress items and submit. That’s it. Slide 5

8 Phase 1: Faculty Raise Early Alert Easily Raise Academic Flags: Attendance Missing or Incomplete Work Low Test/Quiz Scores Other performance metrics Student & Success Network Notified CASA, Advising, and Student work to find appropriate solution and support referrals Close the Loop Faculty Raise Early Alert

9 Phase 2: Alert Communicated to Student and Student’s Success Network Student Notified: Student receives notice, which has specific recommendations. Student & Success Network Notified CASA, Advising, and Student work to find appropriate solution and support referrals Close the Loop Faculty Raise Early Alert Assigned Success Network Notified: CASA Retention Specialists Academic Insight Mentors Avid Mentors Academic Advisors

10 Phase 3: Intervention Student & Success Network Notified CASA, Advising, and Student work to find appropriate solution and support referrals Close the Loop Faculty Raise Early Alert Tiered Flag Response 1 or More Active Flags – CASA, AIM, Avid Mentors 6 or More Active Flags- CASA, AIM, Avid Mentors, Academic Advising

11 Phase 4: Close the Loop Faculty Notified of Flag Status Faculty will be notified of flag status including flag resolution, student recommended action, and non participatory flagged students.
