Warm-up Which one of these sentences has something wrong with it? How can you fix it? Roscoe the Wonder Dog watch the children at the pool. Then he tries to jump into their tube!

Lesson Most verb in the present end with –s when the subject is a singluar noun. Some verbs, though, end with –es instead of –s. Add –es to verbs that end with s, sh, ch, or x when they are used with a singular noun in the subject. Do not add –es when the noun in the subject is plural. Singlar Plural Rob tosses a ball. The boys toss the ball. My grandfather fishes. The girls fish. Emily mixes the salad. Friends mix the salad. Mother watches us. People watch us.
