Japan in receiving humanitarian assistance (Great East Japan Earthquake 2011) Philippines in receiving humanitarian assistance (Super Typhoon Haiyan 2013) AHA Centre – ASEAN Mechanism UN OCHA – UN Mechanism ICRC – International Disaster Response Law (IDRL) Mercy Malaysia – Haiyan response and recovery

9 Day 2 Recap (11 September 2014) Need to focus more on future contingencies and take past events into consideration to feed into the TTX AHA Centre will look into possibilities for a joint- operational centre with ASEAN JOCA to include providing disaster relief assistance to the ARF Members The outcome will be presented during the FPC

Include specific briefing: On the mechanisms used during major disaster for the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 On the coordination of receiving aid during the Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines On NGO’s mechanisms in providing aid Discussion to include two days for the TTX will be taken into consideration to maximize outcome of the exercise

The themes need to be narrowed down in order to get a more comprehensive dialogue between the 27 ARF Members The two themes that were decided to be focused on are: Multinational Coordination Civil-Military Coordination
