Entry Task 10/23/2014 Materials for today: JFK speech (grab from table), journal, writing utensil, highlighter, vocabulary out on desk.

Annotations Your close read must include annotations about rhetoric, audience, voice, and tone.

Think, Pair, Share THINK: (In journal) Audience ideals? What was their view of the topic? Purpose of speech? Significant devices used repetitively? PAIR: What techniques did you notice? How did they show his purpose or audience’s ideals? What were the ideals of his audience? How do you know? Evidence from text? Evidence from your knowledge of history? Then write a discussion question for the class using the following format: “How does JFK’s use of _______ in the ____ paragraph/page when he said “____” relate to his audience’s ideals and his purpose?”

Homework For tomorrow make sure you have answered the 3 questions for MLK’s speech, and JFK’s speech. I will be stamping these tomorrow.
