PS PROJECT Create a poster for the : Rachel Carson 50th Anniversary Celebration of Silent Spring May 27, 2012: During the celebration of Duxbury’s 375th birthday, another celebration will take place on Rachel Carson’s birthday, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Silent Spring. A panel of distinguished naturalists and author will be speaking from 12:30 to 2:30 at The Spring House, 281 Powder Pt. Ave. This private bird sanctuary mentioned in the first line of Silent Spring was once owned by Olga Owens Huckins, a writer and friend of Rachel Carson. FREE and open to the public from 10am to 3pm. Naturalist, author and lecturer Peter Alden will lead bird tours before and after the panel discussion.
