2 SMU FACTS Saint Martin’s was established in 1895 by monks of the Roman Catholic Order of Saint Benedict. Saint Martin’s became a four-year, accredited, baccalaureate-granting institution in 1940. The school changed its name from Saint Martin’s College to Saint Martin’s University in August 2005. Saint Martin’s lays on 300 acres in Lacey, WA adjacent to Olympia, the state capital. Saint Martin’s is a liberal arts institution that offers undergraduate degrees in 22 areas of study and graduate degrees in 6 majors. In the fall of 2008, 1300 undergraduates were enrolled at the main and branch campuses. The student to faculty ratio is 15:1 and there are no teaching assistants.

3 NCAA D-II QuickContact / Recruiting Rules Prospective Student Athletes in their junior or senior year of high school may have communication with a member of the soccer coaching staff via e- mail. Only Seniors (from June 15 following their Junior year) may receive a phone call from a member of the SMU Soccer staff. Any Prospective Student Athlete may contact a member of the coaching staff at any time (see point above for rule concerning phone contact back to a PSA). Prospective Student Athletes in their Senior year may have one tryout / practice with the SMU soccer team. The PSA must provide an active (within 6 months of the event) sports physical allowing full participation and signed by a physician and have that document on file prior to a trial.

5 Highlights Final Record for 2009 (3 rd Year, Varsity sport): 11-7-0 / 6-2-0 in Conference. GNAC Men’s Soccer Champion. 8 Players named to GNAC All-Conference Team; four players to GNAC All Academic Team. Xan Nixon (F),Ruben Orozco (MF), Zac Lubin (GK)1 st Team All-Conference Xan Nixon, 1 st Team, Daktronics All-Region Team Head Coach, Rob Walker, GNAC Coach of the Year

6 Recruiting Status: Men Preseason camp will start August, 2010and the men will report with over 30 players to begin fall preparations. Academic and Financial Aid based on qualification / need. 2010 recruiting is finalized; 2011 Prospective Student Athletes should schedule an unofficial visit with Coach Walker ASAP.

7 Facilities: Current and Future Since program’s inception, men & women have played off-campus at the Regional Athletic Complex on quality grass and Field Turf surfaces. In the fall of 2009, match play began on campus on the new grass field (70 x 115). Both Men’s and Women’s teams will continue to utilize the facilities at the RAC until the complete soccer complex is built on campus. In November 2009, New Recreation Center with new weight / aerobic room(s) open.
