Morocco is a country in the northwest of áfrica. It´s about the size of the states of california - but the land varies a lot. There´s a very fertile area a near the coast where people grow barley, wheat and vegetables. There are some snowy mountains in the center. They´ sahara called the atlas mountains the sahara desert cover the southern part of the country.

Most people in marocco live in the big cities: casablanca, marrakesh, robat (the capital of marocco) and fez. The afficial language is arabic, but people speak french a lot, too. Spanish and english are also common lenguages there

The dominant religion in marocco is islam. Ramadan and Mouloud are two important holidays. The celebrate the life of the Muslim prophet muhammad. For Ramadan people have different work hours, celebrate in their homes and eat special food. For Mouloud, there are songs and dances. During these holidays, many people wear traditional clothes, like the djelleba, a hooded robe.
