2 Simile  Simile-using like or as to compare 2 things. Example : I was snug as a bug in my blanket.

3 Metaphor  Metaphor : Comparing 2 things without using like or as; something is something else.  Example :He is the sun of her sky.

4 Hyperbole  Hyperbole- Using exaggerations.  Example: I ran liked greased lightning.

5 Onomatopoeia  Onomatopoeia –Sound word  Example : The thunder boomed then the lightning cracked.

6 Alliteration  Alliterations-Repetition of beginning sound.  Example: The cat crawled under the car.

7  Personification- Giving human qualities to something not human. Example: The camera loves me! Personification

8 Idiom  Idiom-A well known expression.  Example : I was saved by the bell.
