4 Shannon Trust The Work we do A peer led programme where prisoners who can read teach prisoners with poor reading skills, using the Toe by Toe reading manual The Shannon Trust Reading Plan (Toe by Toe) 1 1 2 2 Shannon Trust provdides resources and volunteer support to deliver the Reading Plan in individual prisons 3 3 5 5 In 2010 approximately 6,000 learners and 1,500 peer mentors engaged in the Reading Plan The Reading Plan runs 160 prisons & secure establishments in the UK 4 4 A team of 160 volunteers and 250 staff deliver The Reading Plan
