1 In your notebooks make a list of the following for your MadLib. The number next to the part of speech indicates how many of each word you need. Plural Noun – 1 Interjection – 2 Past tense verb – 2 Preposition - 1 Adverb – 2 Conjunction - 2 Adjective – 3 Pronoun - 3 Proper Noun – 1 You have already learned nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Let’s see if you are familiar with the other four parts of speech: prepositions, conjunctions, pronouns, and interjections.

3 So, what is the function of those different parts of speech? Replace a noun (he, she, it, they…) Short exclamation (Ouch! Hi, my name is Alex. Well, I’m not sure.) Used to join clauses, sentences or words together (and, or, but, so, because…) Links a noun to another word (to, at, on, from, of…)

6 8 Parts of Speech – Friday Warm-Up Look back at your sentence from yesterday about the evil teacher. It contains all eight parts of speech. Write your own imitation sentence that contains all eight parts of speech. Be sure to label all the parts.
