2 Fantasy and Realism Fantasy is to Realism::Fiction is to Nonfiction Fantasy involves events that could not happen in real life. Such as talking animals and flying babies. Fiction relates to any story that is not real or did not really happen. Realism involves events that could happen in real life. Such as talking children and flying birds. Nonfiction relates to any story that is based on fact or really happened.

12 Heat Wave Bridge Map 1.After reading each page, use a blank sheet of paper to note something that realistic and something that is an example of fantasy from the story. 2.Then take your examples and sort them into related subjects and make sure your example is in complete sentences. 3.When finished use another blank sheet of paper to construct a Bridge map using the analogy Realism : Fantasy ::___________:__________? 4.When finished go back and reread this week’s selection in order to improve reading fluency.
