Consistency

Why Should Christians Strive To Be Consistent in Life? Because Jesus Lived Such A Life: The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach (Acts 1:1). For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps (1 Pet. 2:21). They watched Him (Lk. 14:1; 6:7; Mk. 3:2).

Why Should Christians Strive To Be Consistent in Life? Christ Condemned Inconsistency: For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He has a demon.” The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!” But wisdom is justified by her children (Matt.11:18-19). Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! (Matt. 23:24).

Why Should Christians Strive To Be Consistent in Life? To Keep From Becoming Hypocrites: "And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye? "Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye (Matt. 7:3-5).

Why Should Christians Strive To Be Consistent in Life? To Keep From Losing Our Influence: You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? You who say, "Do not commit adultery," do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law? For "the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you," as it is written (Rom. 2:21-24).

Why Should Christians Strive To Be Consistent in Life? To Save Ourselves and Others: Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you (1 Tim. 4:16). But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say? (Luke 6:46).
