1 Putative mineralized fractures Long/lat: 341.35E, 23.99N Rational: A group of ~parallel levees stand out on one outcrop on the flank of Mawrth Vallis. They could depict the role of ground water circulation in the mineralization of an ancient network of fractures. Morphology & mineralogy: These linear features follow the same direction (NW-SE) and the largest one crosses each other resulting in a diamond patern, while the smallest ones seem more parallel. They are likely the result of inversion by erosion of a network of fractures, mineralized by ground water. Rocks bear Fe/Mg-smectites. MSL tasks: At large scale, study the relation of this features to upper and lower layers, between thin fractures and large levees. At small scale, the grain structure, the mineralogy and chemistry of the rocks, in the different levees. HRSC mosaic with HRSC nadir & color images
