There are 3 main ways that desert plants have adapted to arid climates. They are:
Succulence: capture water and store it in their leaves, stems or roots.
Drought tolerant plants: have strategies that help them tolerate drought
Drought avoiding plants: only ‘live’ when there is water available. When it is dry they lie dormant.
