2 2014-15 Season Tryouts All players have an equal chance of making a team Players must show maximum effort and focus during training sessions All players must be cleared through athletic office by Nov 1st

3 SPORTSMANSHIP All team members and associated spectators will promote and exemplify “Pursing Victory with Honor” by conducting themselves using the “Six Pillars of Character.” Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.

4 TEAM RULES Team members are expected to achieve their maximum potential both academically and athletically. Every player must strive make Honor Roll. Team members will not participate in any illegal activity, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, or illegal drugs, on or off campus. Team members must follow all school rules and policies at all times.

5 PRACTICE RULES Team Members are strictly expected to attend all practices, weight sessions, and off-season training programs. There is no excuse to miss practice except the following: Medical note from doctor or school nurse. Academic note from teacher or parent. Work is not an excuse! All notes must be given to coaching staff BEFORE the missed practice by player or parent only! Another team member can not present the note. If it is an emergency the player must call or email the coaching staff BEFORE the missed practice.

6 Practice Rules Failure to follow these rules are as follows: Each missed unexcused practice will result in extra sprints for the team. Each missed unexcused practice; the team member must make a public team apology at the following practice. “I apologize for missing practice and letting my team down, I understand that every practice missed, damages the team and our potential to be successful, it will not happen again!” Two or more missed unexcused practices will result in demotion from Varsity to JV or game suspension for one week, anymore after that and the team member may be dismissed from the team. Any JV team member with two or more will result in game suspension for one week, anymore and the team member may be dismissed from the team.

7 Practice Rules If every attempt is made to contact coaches and all has failed, leave a message, Team will still do extra sprints. Any missed tryouts dates will risk player making a team or being a part of any team. Tryouts will be the first week starting of Nov. Practice starts at 345pm sharp, Mon-Friday unless changed by staff. Team members will be dressed and ready to practice at exactly 345pm.

8 Proper Gear Team members must wear proper training apparel for practice. NO JEANS, NO LONG B-BALL SHORTS, NO CARGO SHORTS. SOCCER SHORTS ONLY, NO WIFE BEATERS, NO HATS, AND NO GYM SHOES. TEAM WILL DO EXTRA SPRINTS FOR EVERY VIOLATION! LOOK LIKE A PLAYER ACT LIKE A PLAYER

9 Practice Rules Team members will line bags up in two strait lines on the practice pitch away from the lines. All bags will be in a neat and orderly row with no items sitting out. All team equipment, cleaning, and water will be taken care of by all players and any late or injured players. No one leaves until clean. 10. All injured players will attend every practice unless told otherwise by a doctor.

10 PRACTICE BEHAVIOR Team members will practice juggling or passing prior to practice no shooting unless told differently by coaching staff. Practice behavior is to be focused and intense. No horseplay, this will result in team sprints. Team members must be quiet during any coaching instructions and be listening intently. Team members will SPRINT (not run or jog) to any coach when whistled or coach calls in players. Players will KNEEL (not stand or sit) around the coaches and WAIT FOR INSTRUCTION QUIETLY. Failure to do this will result in team sprints. Team members will not leave trash or any items behind after practice. Team members will not squeal tires or peal out after practice. This could result in team sprints and possible game suspension

11 SOCCER VOCABULARY Team members will learn and use these words throughout the season. Failure to do so will result in team sprints. Pitch-Soccer field Boots- Soccer cleats Send- Long kick (DO NOT SAY BOOT IT!!) Challenge- go after the ball Step- get the ball Strike- Kick Finish- Score Nil- no score (5 to nil= 5 to 0) Carry- Dribble

12 SOCCER VOCABULARY 10.Ball- pass(the noun)- (good ball= good pass) 11. Touch- refers to controlling the ball, trapping, or passing. 12. Match- Game 13. Nutmeg- Refers to pushing the ball between your opponent legs. 14. Dummy- allowing the ball to pass through your legs on purpose. 15. Step up or push up- refers to the command for the offside trap.

13 SOCCER VOCABULARY 16. Leave- refers to one player calling off another player to get the ball. 17. Keeper- Goalie 18. Switch- refers to the player sending the ball in the air to the opposite side of the pitch to his team mate. 19. Clear- refers to striking the ball as far away as possible to avoid poor control. 20. Dive- refers to a player faking a foul to achieve a referee call in their favor. 21. Soft red card- refers to two yellow cards. 22. Hard red card- refers to a strait red. 23. Possession- refers to playing keep away with the ball from the other team.
