1 Nghia’s Work of Art Pamela Murrell & Nghia

2 Nghia entered into the classroom enthusiastic and ready for art. She eagerly sat down in a circle of peers to hear an “inspiring” story and instructions for the evening.

3 Nghia listens thoughtfully to…

5 After hearing the story, Nghia draws with a black felt pen on white paper, to create her own story.

6 She even “draws” inspiration from …

7 Her own shoe!

8 She carefully places her shoe on to the paper. If she is to draw her shoe, it MUST be the actually size.

9 She opens her pen…

10 …and carefully traces around her shoe, not lifting her pen nor her eyes before it’s done.

11 The outline is complete. Now it’s time for a little detail.

12 Nghia observes her shoe very closely.

13 From top to bottom…front to back. She takes in and processes the details.

14 Nghia wishes and ask for paint to add color but there is none readily available, so content with a regular crayola crayon. Nghia wishes she had red paint to add to her drawing, but she quickly becomes content with a, “purple crayon”(just like Harold).

15 What it Means Nghia, it was a pleasure to watch you engage in the drawing art activity. I noticed that you pay very close attention to detail and you finish what you set out to do. You were very attentive, paying special attention to every aspect of your shoe. Although it took several tries before you were satisfied with the shape of your drawing, I was impressed by your persistence and determination to get it “right”.
