Putting on the full amour of God
Ephesians 6: 13-18 Putting on the full amour of God
2
Ephesians 6: 13-18 13 Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
3
Ephesians 6: 13-18 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Taking off the old and putting on the new
Ephesians 5:8-9 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.

Put on the FULL armour… Ephesians 6
11 Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Paul tells us we need the full armour of God because we are dealing with big things, Don’t want to leave yourself exposed, as a night who rides into battle missing a bit of his armour is vulnerable so are we vulnerable when we are missing part of the armour. If we are righteous and have the sword of the word but without the gospel of peace being on our lips we run the risk of running rough shod over people. SO in this sermon: Not one piece is more important than the other, Not going to look at the nature of a shoe and a shield and a breastplate Instead look at the attributes of the armour and how they help us live as children of the light as a whole.

Belt of Truth John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Two levels We need to be truthful and honest, we have out of the deeds of darkness and deception. Embarrass ourselves and discredit ourselves when we lie or fudge the truth. I’m sure you can all think of a time – you will be found out. If living a life of light then nothing to lie about, nothing to be ashamed of Knowing the truth of Jesus. Jesus is the truth – standfast in that knowledge. When ppl recoile against the church often iti is against a truth they find uncomfortable.

Breastplate of Righteousness
Romans 3: 21-24 21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Gods righteousness or our “self righteousness” Aware of wrongs against ourselves or harms against God? None of us on our own are righteous, made righteousness through Jesus. Putting on a knowledge of Christ again! Like the armour above gives the appearance of abbs(transforms the user, Jesus transforms us into R. Is a mould we can follow.

Shoes of Readiness for spreading the gospel of peace
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Whole bible is a story of stress and unrest and strife, From the fall in contention with God, nation of Isreal striving to obey laws and calling for peace! Finally through Jesus we are at peace with god – no longer part of darkness but part of light. People have enough strife and worry in their life. Don’t need extra burden of having to please God – need gospel of peace. Test our righteousness and sword of the lord swinging against how well it promotes peace.

Shield of Faith Extinguish the flaming arrows of the enemy,
We know we are in a battle against principalities. Arrows could be doubt, could be hardship and trouble, could be temptations and situations. Faith can shield us from the harms these cause – hard times in life still uncomfortable but not cause despair because faith promises something bigger.
10
Helmet of Salvation Acts 13:47-48 For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honoured the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. Preservation, deliverance from ruin. In a Christian context from ultimate ruin of sin. Works in harmony with the shield of faith – we have faith in our salvation. Needs to eb put on deliberately. Often hard ot keep sight of the bigger picture, When your equipped with this can’t help but be greatful and seek to become more like Christ – put off the old and put on the new in light of your salvation. Verse is Paul and Barnabus telling the Jews that have rejected Jesus.
11
Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. This informs all the other bits. This holds the gospel of peace, recounts the story of our salvation, forms the basis of out faith through the evidence of gods faithfulness, this spells out the truth of Christ and instructs our feet in paths of righteousness. Really powerful Advertising experience Need this to be the base.
12
…And PRAY And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. None of this amour works without God. He’s the one with the power, we put it on so we can stand in him, it’s his qualities supporting us in the fight against the powers and princ. (Phew) Once all kitted up need instructions!
13
Matthew “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
