A semi aquatic egg laying mammal.

We made up some questions and here are the answers.

the platypus rely on a electro-reception.

Nothing will happen if a platypus opens its eyes because its eye is protected by a thin, transparent membrane so it can open its eyes without injury.

about 2 to 10 minutes.

Platypus don’t actually have eyelids! Their eyes are in a special groove that closes automatically underwater.

It’s not an amphibian it’s a semi-aquatic egg laying mammal.

The big question is why do Platypus close their eyes in the water

They don’t need to open their eyes in the water they use a electro-reception.

We researched about its body parts.

Helps platypus to find food underwater, uses grinds plates rather than teeth.

It uses its cheek pouches for storing its food temporarily, because it eats on land.

It uses its feet as paddles to swim better, and when it climbs onto land, the webbed parts of its feet fold back to reveal sharp claws. Also, the males claws are poisonous, while the female claws are not.

The platypuses tail also helps it swim quickly, it also uses its tail to steer it self as it dives. Oddly, the platypus stores most of its body fat in its tail for winter.

In the coastal parts of Australia.

Things like small fish, zoo plankton, shrimp, crust aceans and larvae.

Dingoes, feral cats, spotted tailed quolls, owls, pythons, goannas and water rats.

Sadly, only sixteen years.

Twenty cm.

For a male, fifty to sixty cm, but for a female, she is only forty to fifty cm.

They(baby platypuses) spend 10 days in the egg, then 24 days before it is properly hatched. After that, the baby platypuses spend several more months with the mother before it is ready to leave her. They reach maturity at the age of two.

Thanks for listening to us about the platypus. we used the Internet and books from the library.

We did it all
