School Safety

Enhanced Lockdown We use a lockdown when there is an unsafe person or situation in our building. A lockdown uses your common sense. In these situations there is not one single set of steps that we should follow. Instead, with the help of your teacher, we will make decisions and work together. Some decisions are: Communication Barricade Evacuate Counter / Distract

Communication Share and gather information by any way possible If you see something, say something Listen for information over the loud speaker and from your teacher If you contact the main office or emergency responders (fire and police) be sure to tell them who you are, where you are and what is going on

Barricade If we are in a Lockdown: Report to the nearest classroom with a teacher Lock the door Turn lights off Pull down shades Listen to your teacher Help Barricade Doors Use desks, bookshelves, chairs, etc Tie doors shut with belts or other objects found in room

Evacuate Leave the building when safe Exit safely and quickly from the building to a safe spot Examples of safe spots are: Fire Headquarters, Town Hall, Lyons Ambulance, Danvers Square, ect

Counter / Distract This is an OPTION depending on the situation presented. How to respond if the aggressor does get into your safe area and there are no safe ways to evacuate Throw items at the aggressor Make noise Evacuate the room or area if possible

DHS Safety All of Danvers’ schools are safe schools but we always have to be ready for an emergency. There are many adults who are here to keep you safe and help you during an emergency. Always if you see or hear something unsafe say something to an adult.

Anonymous Text Tip Line 1.Type 847411 (Tip411) into the send bar. 2.In the text box type code word: DanversPD for community concerns or DanversSRO for school concerns 3. Hit Send To: 847411 DanversPD I see some suspicious activity in my neighborhood park…. To: 847411 DanversSRO I heard there is going to be a serious fight after the ball game tonight. In partnership with DanversCARES

Additional Tips and Police Response You may text back and forth anonymously with a police officer to detail the concern. You may also leave a tip on the police department website. http://danverspolice.com http://danverspolice.com This line is NOT for emergencies! Dial 911 for all emergencies. Because of potential and ongoing investigations of any police matter, you many not hear about a response, status, or resolution of any crime. You will receive an automated response that your tip has been received and can rest assured that it will be acted on.
