5 Pilot Project Program Expectations http//sctr.musc.edu 843-792-8300  Proof-of-concept studies, clinical applicability and dissemination  Generation of critical preliminary data  Successful applications of extramural grant funding mechanisms  Successful publications of research data & findings  Development of potential IP and commercialization of technologies

6 Pilot Project Program RFA http//sctr.musc.edu 843-792-8300 Institutional Funds:  MUSC - $500K/year  USC - $200K/year Grant Categories (all awards are for 12 months):  Discovery Grants (up to $25K)  High Risk – High Reward (up to $10K)  Fast-Forward Seed Grants (up to $10K*) Note: New pilot project applications developed as a result of SCTR Scientific Retreats are eligible to apply using these mechanisms. *Requires 1:1 Match - $5K SCTR funds, $5K matching funds
