1 Pope Francis assures atheists: You don’t have to believe in God to go to heaven Michael Day Wednesday, 11 September 2013 Pope Francis reaches out to atheists and agnostics By Nick Squires, Rome 5:03PM BST 11 Sep 2013 "God forgives those who obey their conscience," he wrote in the unprecedented letter, the latest example of the markedly different tone and style from his predecessors that he has set since being elected in March.

2 Pope Francis reaches out to atheists and agnostics By Nick Squires, Rome 5:03PM BST 11 Sep 2013 The Pope wrote: "The question for those who do not believe in God is to follow their own conscience. Sin, even for a non- believer, is when one goes against one's conscience. "To listen and to follow your conscience means that you understand the difference between good and evil." He said that the "mercy of God has no limits" and encompassed even non-believers, but his remarks failed to impress the Italian Union of Atheists and Agnostics.

17 Gal 6:14 Ron Merryman Galatians: God’s Antidote to Legalism pg. 119 “Paul is saying in effect, ‘The values and priorities of the world are manifest in how mankind treated Christ, the Messiah. They crucified Him. I identify with Messiah and His cross and all the values thereof to the absolute God: Therefore, I stand crucified or dead to the thinking, the values, and the glory of the world and the world stands crucified or dead to me. Cosmic thinking, glory, and values, attitudes that do not relate to Christ, have no interest, no appeal, no priority in my life.’ “In like manner, the triumph and significance of the cross, the finished work of Christ should grip the mentality of every believer. Legalism or any system of doctrine that adds human good to the work of Christ at Calvary or to the sanctifying work of God’s Spirit robs the cross of its rightful glory and in some way seeks the applause of the world. God forbid! May it never be!”
