R EALIZING THE MOTIVATION AND IMPACT OF GOOD WORKS AS A C HRISTIAN

these things I want you to affirm constantly be careful to maintain good works Titus 3:8 - 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. let our people also learn to maintain good works Titus 3:14 - 14 And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful.

Why do you do what you do as a Christian? – To go to heaven? – To not go to hell? – To be seen of men? – To be seen by God? – To bear fruit? – To lay up treasure in heaven? Why? – To glorify God? – To please God? – Because you owe the Lord? – Because you love the Lord? – Because men hate you? – Because you love men?

see your good worksglorify your Father in heaven Matthew 5:16 - 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven Matthew 5:44–45 - 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? do good your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. Luke 6:32–36 - 32 But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. 35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. 36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

For she has done a good work for Me. wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her. Matthew 26:6–13 - 6 And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, 7 a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. 8 But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? 9 For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor.” 10 But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. 11 For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. 12 For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. 13 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”

that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Himbeing fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God Colossians 1:9–14 - 9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

we are His workmanshipcreated in Christ Jesus for good works Ephesians 2:8–10 - 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. professing godlinesswith good works 1 Timothy 2:10 - 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. he desires a good work 1 Timothy 3:1 - 1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work.

in all things showing yourselfa pattern of good works Titus 2:6–8 - 6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.
