Part 1: The Egg
About The Egg… Caterpillars grow inside the eggs and hatch after a few days. Caterpillars hatch by eating out of their shell.
Part 2: Caterpillar
* Caterpillars spend their whole life eating and growing The caterpillar makes a chrysalis on a leaf and attaches itself upside down!
Part 3: The Chrysalis (Pupa)
Inside the pupa (chrysalis) a wonderful change is happening. The caterpillar turns into liquid and then changes into a butterfly!
Part 4: The Butterfly
You know a butterfly is ready to hatch when you can see through the pupa (chrysalis)
After a while the chrysalis splits open and the butterfly comes out Its wings are like soggy paper After the wings dry from the warm sun, the butterfly flies off and begins its new life!
