30 NNJ09BH0123RAppendix L A-Crew, Robotics, Avionics, and Vehicle Equipment (CRAVE)- Unrestricted Incapacitated Crewmember Operations This scenario described below is only for illustration purposes. It is not technical direction on a possible solution. Scenario: Use pulley/assist mechanism through side hatch –Incapacitated crewmember scenario results in depress of LER cabin if brought through side hatch Have to have capability to support both bringing in via side hatch depending on injury External controls for cabin depress and side hatch opening –Rescuer approaches Incapacitated crewmember Note if buddy umbilical is needed, the following steps will be affected –Rescuer drags Incapacitated crewmember to LER side hatch Question: if acceptable, take time to lower chassis fully? –Rescuer opens side hatch, attaches pulley/assist mechanism to Incapacitated crewmember and operates pulley/assist mech. to pull Incapacitated crewmember inside the cabin –Rescuer connects Incapacitated crewmember’s vacuum line –Rescuer egresses the cabin, closes the side hatch and initiates emergency repress –With cabin at pressure, Rescuer may enter through the suit port (saving space inside the cabin and making doffing the suit easier) and administers medical care May be necessary to extract Incapacitated crewmember from suit depending on cause of incapacitation L-2-A-30
