Automation Audio, Aux Input, MIDI and Instrument tracks – Volume – Pan – Mute Sends – Volume – Pan – mute Master Faders – Volume All plug-in controls

Automation Playlists Audio Tracks Single automation playlist for each automatable control. You cannot store multiple takes of automation for a single control in an audio track. MIDI Tracks All controller automation data except for MIDI mute data, or audio mute is stored in the MIDI region that contains it. P.T. automation has a higher automation than MIDI automation. MIDI Tracks All controller automation data except for MIDI mute data, or audio mute is stored in the MIDI region that contains it. P.T. automation has a higher automation than MIDI automation.

Automation Playlist & Drift Audio track sample based - the track’s automation playlist is unaffected by changes in tempo of the session. Audio track tick-based - the automation breakpoints change to match the sessions tempo changes. Drift is more pronounced with larger regions. To reduce drift, slice the audio into smaller regions.

Automation Modes Off Automation playback and writing disabled. Read Automation play-only mode. Automation writing disabled. Touch Continues to write until released. Latch Continues to write after being released. Write Starts with playback, erasing previously written data. Touch Continues to write until released. Latch Continues to write after being released. Write Starts with playback, erasing previously written data.

Graphical Editing of Automation Data Line graph with editable breakpoints Breakpoints can be: – Added, deleted, moved, copied, pasted, scaled, and nudged. Editable graph displays – Volume, pan, EQ frequency, EQ type, mute, and plug-ins Grabber Tool: – Create, move, remove breakpoints Pencil Tool: – Click on breakpoint to draw new breakpoints, and add line segment

Rules for Cut, Copy, & Paste Automation data is pasted to the corresponding graph it came from. When audio is cut from the waveform view, all automation data is also cut, copy and pasted. Cutting or copying data from a playlist with no data, will not add breakpoints to the playlist. Automation data for plug-ins or sends that do not exist on the target track will be ignored when pasted.

Paste Special Mode 1. Merge - Add MIDI data that you copied from a source selection to existing MIDI data in a destination selection. 2. Repeating Automation - paste multiple iterations of copied automation data to a destination selection range. 3. Paste to Different Automation Type - copy and paste between automation playlists on the same track or to copy automation data from a source track and paste it into a different type of playlist on a separate destination track.
