18. Do we know God? We have a tendency to paint a picture of God based on our culture or our desires We need to re-evaluate the basis of our assumptions and judgments, whether it is cultural or Biblical Here are some examples:

19. “God hates sin but loves the sinners” Psalm 7:11 (NKJV) God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day. Isaiah 13:9 (NKJV) Behold, the day of the Lord comes, Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, To lay the land desolate; And He will destroy its sinners from it. GOD ACTUALLY HATE SINNERS

20. “God is easy to forgive and forget” Job 9:13 (NKJV) God will not withdraw His anger, The allies of the proud lie prostrate beneath Him. GOD ACTUALLY DOESN’T FORGET

21. “God is never angry at His people and will not punish them” Josh 23:16 When you have transgressed the covenant of the Lord your God, which He commanded you, & have gone and served other gods, & bowed down to them, then the anger of the Lord will burn against you, & you shall perish quickly from the good land which He has given you." 1 Kings 14:15 (NKJV) For the Lord will strike Israel… provoking the Lord to anger. GOD ACTUALLY GET ANGRY & PUNISH SINNERS

22. “God doesn’t kill His own people or brings sickness among them” Num 11:1 Soon the people began to complain about their hardship, & the Lord heard everything they said. Then the Lord’s anger blazed against them, and he sent a fire to rage among them, & he destroyed some of the people in the outskirts of the camp. Num 11:33 But as everyone began eating the meat, the anger of the Lord rose against the people & he killed large numbers of them with a plague. GOD ACTUALLY KILL & SEND PLAGUE

Romans 9:22 (NIV) What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction? GOD ACTUALLY IS KEEPING SCORE

26. Reality Check The reality is God is more fierce than we’d like to imagine What if He is really that way? Does He need our permission to be the kind of God that He is? If we say: "I just can’t believe in a God like that, so primitive and violent” – what will it really change?

27. The Other Side Of God God is fierce, but His love for us is even more fierce! Isa 54:8 “But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,Says the Lord, your Redeemer.” This poses a very big problem and a very big potential of a very violent clash!

28. It Happened At The Cross! The most violent clash between absolute holiness and extravagant love Heb 9:12 – What will drive a perfect Heavenly Father that loves His only Son with perfect absolute love to let His Son come to Him with all His blood, giving His life, for the full payment for His wrath for the willful sin of mankind? – An equal, perfect love for all of us
