Example Applications

Similar Works SixthSense (2009): Uses the project to overlay images on top of real world objects.

Similar Works MotionBeam (2011): Uses a projector as a way to control a virtual character.

Similar Works HideOut (2013): Uses a projector as a way to control a virtual character.

Overview Authors Motivation Vision Paper Summary – What they Made – How it Works – Example Applications Similar Works

Discussion Questions The authors present a large number of sample applications that utilize their system. Out of the three broad categories (Mobile Content Exchange, Education, Games), which ones stood out to you? In the paper, the authors state that the technologies used in SideBySide are commercially available, and can be assembled in a cost-efficient manner. They also say that the technology could be feasibly deployed in around 2-4 years ago. Given that the paper came out in 2011, what do you think is the reason why this technology hasn't appeared to gain significant traction in the handheld market?
