2 2 Motivation Reflect on yesterday’s sessions Opportunity for DOTs to reinforce what they want the market to provide in –Technologies –Capabilities –Services Opportunity for service providers to interact with potential clients on current and future MDSS products

3 3 Discussion Setup (1 of 2) States, you have participated in defining a MDSS: –Is this definition of capabilities enough to push you into the market? –Do you want additional capabilities added in the near future? –How important is verification of forecasts or treatment recommendations? –Do you need additional justification such as a cost/benefit analysis?

4 4 Discussion Setup (2 of 2) Service providers, you have had the DOT requirements stated & reinforced: –Are you meeting their expectations today? –Are you able to improve MDSS capabilities within your own organization or do you rely on the federal government or academia for new research? –Are the DOTs realistic in their funding expectations for MDSS to services to be sustained or grow?
