2 On March 5, 2013, the Board of Education took action to postpone the decision to close Tokay Colony Elementary School for one year. On September 17, 2013, the Board of Education asked staff to conduct a survey to determine interest in a technology magnet among the students at Lockeford, Live Oak, Victor, and Tokay Colony Schools. The current enrollments as of the October 24, 2013, Enrollment Count at Tokay Colony are: K: 7 students4 th : 11 students 1 st : 6 students5 th : 12 students 2 nd : 16 students6 th : 19 students 3 rd : 13 students 2

5 CONSIDERSATIONS Interest results are not significant enough to sustain the school over multiple years. The location of the school presents electrical and infrastructure issues. Estimated cost of technology: $180,200 - 2 additional access points: $1,000 - 84 laptops (based on current enrollment): $67,200 - 6 interactive whiteboards with projectors: $24,000 - 6 teacher workstations & curricular devices: $9,000 - Classroom software (Rosetta Stone, READ 180, iRead, etc.): $25,000 - Tech support and training: $54,000 5

6 RECOMMENDATION Place current Tokay Colony students at either Live Oak or Lockeford per their parents’/guardians’ preference beginning with the 2014-15 school year. Establish the attendance boundary for new families. 6
