6 Short-term Plan of Action –Communicate with your current Chairs Are they interested in renewing their term? Would they like to transition into another position of responsibility? Chapter officers may fill certain offices by succession, rather than by election Explain roles and responsibilities (i.e. NCMA Resources) –Communicate with your membership community Announce anticipated election (i.e. in person, email, phone call) Communicate at meetings, events, luncheons Ensure those interested in election have an active membership –Transition from Member to Volunteer to Chair Reach out; Has a member expressed an interest in being more involved? 11 NCMA Chapter Election Guide 10 http://resources.ncmahq.org/chapters/Chapter%20Leader%20Materials/NCMA%20CHAPTER%20ELECTION%20GUIDANCE.pdf Chapters should follow these rules if they do not have bylaws stipulating otherwise: Chapter officers must be current NCMA members Chapters must have at least a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. These are known as ‘chapter officers’ Terms should be for one year Chapter officers should be elected by majority vote of the members voting
