1 OVERVIEW

2 Children’s Board Family Resource Centers (CBFRC) are designed to help families and communities become happier, healthier and stronger. CBFRCs embrace the principles of family support and are governed through the shared leadership of families, community members, community stakeholders, staff and others. All programs and services are at no cost to participants and parent activities may include supervised play time for children.

3 Partners Funded by the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County Administrated by the Healthy Start Coalition of Hillsborough County Managing partners include Champions for Children The Children’s Home, Inc., Family Community Advisory Councils, REACHUP, Inc. and St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Children’s Advocacy Center.

4 History 2001 Town ‘N Country Center opens, managed by The Children’s Home, Lazora Jordan, First Manager University Center opens at University Mall Julie Sands, Program Manager Healthy Start Coalition Administers the Family Support & Resource Centers 2003 $1 million in funding from the Children’s Board Website developed 2004 Brandon Center opens, managed by Bright Beginnings ANTS implemented Maria Negron, Director Policies & Procedures developed and implemented 2005 FCACs implemented Developmental Screening begins Spanish translation of materials begins First Family Support Day held at the Letter Carrier’s Hall 2006 North Tampa opens, managed by Bright Beginnings Mobile Services implemented 2007 Ruskin Center opens, managed by Catholic Charities Outreach Coordinators implemented 2008 Central Tampa Center opens at the CBHC 2009 “Uniform” implemented 2010 Ruskin moves and is renamed South County 2011 Community Café implemented Project name changes to Children’s Board Family Resource Centers, rebranding 2012 RFP process through CBHC Domains focusing on Child Development and Health & Safety Central Tampa Center, managed by REACHUP East County Center opens, managed by Champions for Children 2013 Marisa Mowat became the Director 2014 Received an 100 on CBHC Evaluation 2015 Central Tampa expands

5 Family Community Advisory Councils Each Center has a Council that meets once a month to discuss and bring to management's attention any services or programs they feel are needed or wanted in the community. The Council is made up of Center members.

6 Child Development Baby Bungalow’s mission is to promote happier, healthier families by coordinating and providing programs and resources that enhance early childhood development and support families of children ages birth to 5. Provided by the Champions for Children.

8 Health & Safety St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital takes a stand for the health and well-being of children and families through health education and safety courses. Provided by the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Children’s Advocacy Center.

9 Health & Safety Well Child Care including immunizations and physicals Nutrition Classes Hearing Screening (birth-18 years) Vision Screening (2-18 years) Car Seat Safety Classes Booster Seat Classes First Aid & CPR Certification Safe Sitter Classes

10 Dental Services Preventative Dental Services for ages 6 months through 18 years provided by: Suncoast Community Health Centers Tampa Family Health Centers

11 Center Driven Programs Family Community Advisory Council Holiday Celebrations Conversational English Book and Video Check Out Free Play Arts & Crafts Story Time Volunteer Program Internship Program
