2 Office of Institutional Research CTE Completion Rate As defined in the current Institutional Effectiveness Report – Denominator (Cohort): First-time freshmen in 2007-2008 who met all of the following criteria: – Earned 12 or more credit units at SMC within six years – Attempted an advanced occupational course (CB09=B) within six years – Numerator: Students in the cohort who met one or more of the following criteria within six years: – Earned a Certificate of Achievement – Earned an Associate Degree – Transferred to a four-year institution 2

4 Office of Institutional Research Follow-up Data Request During a May 2014 meeting, the CTE Committee requested the following follow- up data – Add non-first time freshmen to the calculation – Disaggregate the completion rates by TOP code/program 4

5 Office of Institutional Research Non-First Time Freshmen Cohort Enrolled at SMC for the first time in 2007- 2008 Some students transferred in from other institutions Others previously earned a degree at another institution – Earned 12 or more credit units at SMC within six years – Attempted an advanced occupational course (CB09=B) within six years 5

9 Office of Institutional Research CB09 – SAM Priority Code CB09 CodeDescription A – Apprenticeship *Does not apply to SMC* The course is designed for an apprentice and must have the approval of the State of California, Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards. B – Advanced OccupationalCourses are those taken by students in the advanced stages of their occupational programs. C – Clearly OccupationalCourses generally taken by students in the middle stages of the programs. D – Possibly OccupationalCourses generally taken by students in the beginning stages of their occupational programs. 9
