5 5 Computational Science and Engineering (CS&E) Interdisciplinary graduate specialization program started in 1995 Over 50 MS and PhD students and 137 faculty in 2007 including 6 PRISM members 14 core courses in HPC architectures, parallel algorithms, programming, and visualization Over 60 relevant CSE courses in disciplines ranging from computational biology to nuclear engineering Require all PRISM graduate students to take specialization Enrich program with more topical courses https://engineering.purdue.edu/CSE

6 6 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) NSF, NIST and industry funded since 2003 Summer and year-round paid research: 186 SURF students in 2007 112 faculty across 21 Engineering and Science Pathway to advanced degrees in STEM: Over 50% of SURF students apply to grad schools
