2 The City of Roseville, California uses the NovaStar5 software in their flood warning system to: Collect ALERT rainfall and water level data Check alarm conditions and notify Determine threat level Automate river forecasting Condense information for EOC display

3 Data is collected from self reporting ALERT rainfall and water level stations

4 Define ALERT stations in database

5 Define forecast stations in database

6 Define sensor points in database Assign alarm limits to set hydrologic threat level and trigger email alarm notification

7 Alarms trigger emails, set threat levels

8 Assign ratings

9 Run forecast model manually or schedule automatic forecasting

10 Create maps to show level and rain Set map border latitude and longitude to auto-locate points on map

11 Annotate maps Annotations can be text or images  Show rainfall period  Show time of rainfall map

12 Position point readouts Select site marker to plot at station location Reposition data readouts to open display Connect data readouts to marker with line Set link for map drill down

13 Display rain data on map Rain data is highlighted to show return period

14 Display level data on map Level data is highlighted to show threat level

15 Create plot for level forecast

16 Add critical plot levels Horizontal annotation show critical levels  Line color shows threat level Vertical annotations show current time in plot

17 Assign plot threat level colors Area under plot lines are filled  Fill color shows threat level Plot line shapes mark data reports
