2 Navigating the Maze  What do you need to know about student certification requirements?  What student certifications are appropriate and available to high school students?  How do you pay for student certification?

3 Information from TEA As a result of school information in the “other” category, they have increased the number of certifications on the PER almost 50% The list on the PER is not meant to be directive or exclusive Districts should offer certificate/licensure exams that are reasonable for the district and region and are beneficial to students – whether the exam is on the PER or not The sole purpose of the PER list is to collect data to report to the USDA for the 2S1 core indicator The information reported is the percentage of students that pass, not the quantity of students that take an exam The threshold for exams on the PER list are: end of program, industry-recognized, available and appropriate for secondary students
