41 Some highlights are more visible at certain levels.
reds and oranges are visible at levels 4, 5, 6 and 7, but invisible on darker shades.

42 Absorb the light and appear darker than their level.
Highlights Cool highlights: Blue Violet Absorb the light and appear darker than their level.

43 Reflect the light and therefore appear lighter than their level.
Highlights Warm Highlights Copper Golden Reflect the light and therefore appear lighter than their level.

44 Grey Hair easily absorbs Blue and Red highlights.
This is why you must always use basic colors to naturally cover grey hair. Use warm tones to cover difficult grey hair.

45 Using lower volume Le Developer = Less intense highlights
since there is less lightening of the natural pigments. Using higher volume Le Developer = More radiant highlights since there is increased lightening of the natural pigments.

61 Can be applied to grey hair Can be taken through the lengths.
High-Lift Blonde 11.2 Used on levels 6 and up. Can be applied to grey hair Can be taken through the lengths. If lengths are faded and need to be retouched, use Color Instantané

62 High-Lift Blonde 11.2 11.2 creates maximum lightening levels with the use of higher volumes of peroxide (50 or 60) with no irritation to scalp. 11.2 is Neutral to Platinum Can be mixed with any other shade when higher lift is required or needed.

63 Can be used with Reds or Ash
High-Lift Blonde 11.2 Can be used with Reds or Ash Use 11.2 instead of bleach in hair color for better lift control Use 11.2 with Amplifiers to create infinite shade possibilities.

64 Grey Hair This is a mixture of hair with and without pigment The hair colorist must see if the hair is more or less 50% grey or if there are very grey areas in order to make a diagnosis. Use Le Developer 20 volume peroxide for darker shades Use Le Developer 30 volume on red and lighter shades.

65 Level Selection How to select the level of tint to use to achieve the approximate desired color Determine client’s hair level Choose desired level and multiply it by 2 Subtract client’s hair level to find level of tint to use

66 9 is the level to use. Level Selection Example: Formula:
Desired Level = 6 Clients Level = 3 Formula: Desired Level X 2 = (n) – Clients Level = Teinture Level 6 X 2 = 12 – 3 = 9 9 is the level to use.

Where there is a high proportion of grey hair, the waiting time can be extended by 10 minutes without any adverse affects. After development time is completed, rinse. Follow with complete Mastey after service process

70 Technical Applications
First application on virgin hair Separate the hair into 4 sections Begin with lengths and ends (1/2 inch from scalp area). Leave on for 15 minutes then apply to scalp area. Leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly Finish with Mastey after service regimen

71 Technical Applications
Touch-up techniques: Separate hair into 4 sections Apply color to new growth. When working on grey hair, begin with whitest areas. Development time: 45 minutes minimum

77 Technical Applications

This technique is used before color application: Determine the desired tone Over lengths and ends, apply one dose of Color Instantané Do not rinse. Then apply the desired Teinture color formulation directly onto pre-colored or filled hair.

Add 1 part of Le Developer oxidant cream peroxide, 50 or 60 volume Mix carefully With a brush, apply on the scalp area Do not pull color through the rest of the hair. Development time is 45 minutes after application is complete After development time is completed, rinse thoroughly Follow with Mastey After Service Regimen

79 Color Instantané As Color Instantané is a tone-on-tone color, it does not darken or lighten the base.

80 Color Instantané If you streak hair or slightly lighten it before applying Color Instantané, you must stop the lightening process at the best lightening base to reveal the desired highlights: Red orange mahogany-brown Orange copper-copper brown Yellow golden Light yellow beige–platinum

85 Poor coverage of grey hair:
Troubleshooting Poor coverage of grey hair: The mixture does not contain enough of, or is completely lacking in, a Natural shade. The chosen shade is too light and makes the new growth look lighter than the lengths. The application method was not respected. Development time was too short, minimum 45 minutes Not enough product was used.

86 Highlights will not take:
Troubleshooting Highlights will not take: The successive color pull-through on already-colored hair left the hair overly porous. To solve this problem, use Color Instantané and SuperPac. Mastey After-color treatments processes were not used. Mastey at Home treatments were not used. Hair needs pre-coloring or filling due to the overly porous lengths.

87 Color is too light: Troubleshooting
The natural tone level was not determined correctly. The chosen shade is too light. The peroxide volume is too strong. The % color / peroxide was not correct. There was too much peroxide. The mixture calls for 1 dose of Teinture for 1 of Le Developer peroxide.

88 Color is too dark: Troubleshooting The chosen shade is too dark.
The peroxide volume is too weak. The mixture was not correct; there was not enough peroxide.

89 New growth is too yellow when using 11. tones:
Troubleshooting New growth is too yellow when using 11. tones: The shade chosen does not have enough of the proper tone to neutralize the yellow. The natural color is too dark for lightening in one step. Lengths and ends are ashy and make the new growth look too yellow. The development time was not long enough (45 minutes minimum). The product was pulled through, creating over-oxidized lengths.

90 New growth turns ashy when using 11. tones:
Troubleshooting New growth turns ashy when using 11. tones: The chosen shade contains tones which are too strong for the tone level. There is too much grey hair. The fine hairs around the hairline were not protected by a shorter development time.

91 Ends turn ashy when using the 11. tones:
Troubleshooting Ends turn ashy when using the 11. tones: Super-lighteners are mixed with very high-volume peroxide and should only be used on new growth. When they are applied to already lightened and thus porous lengths, the highlight turns ashy, since it no longer controls the lightening of natural hair. To refresh ends, use Color Instantané.

92 Highlights are too intense on the new growth:
Troubleshooting Highlights are too intense on the new growth: The Natural shade should have been used in the mixture. Pay close attention to fine hair around the hairline, which calls for a shorter development time. The chosen shade is too light or too dark. The peroxide used is too strong.

93 Ends turn ashy: Troubleshooting Color was pulled through too rapidly.
The mixture was too cold and turned ashy. Lengths are too oxidized and the nuance turned into a cool shade.

94 Poor coverage of grey hair:
Troubleshooting Poor coverage of grey hair: The mixture does not contain enough of, or is completely lacking in, a Natural shade. The chosen shade is too light and makes the new growth look lighter than the lengths. The application method was not respected. Development time was too short, minimum 45 minutes Not enough product was used.
